Supervision for social workers and psychotherapists in Guelph, ON.
Get your counselling career started with supportive supervision at Changing Tides Counselling.
Clinical supervision is an important part of the mental health field. It is a process in which a qualified therapist provides guidance and support to another therapist in order to ensure the highest standards of care are being met.
Clinical supervision is essential for the development of social workers and/or psychotherapists, as it allows them to learn from experienced professionals and gain valuable insight into the field. Supervisors are responsible for providing guidance and support to those they supervise, as well as monitoring their progress and providing feedback. The supervisor is also responsible for ensuring the appropriate protocols and standards of care are being followed.
At Changing Tides Counselling our clinical supervisor has over 10 years of experience in the mental health world.
What is Clinical Supervision?
Meet your Clinical Supervisor
Nichole Caswell, MSW, RSW, is an Approved Clinical Supervisor with both the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). She provides clinical supervision to social workers, psychotherapists, practicum students, and early-career clinicians across Ontario.
Nichole has over 10 years of experience working within community mental health and private practice settings. Her background is in children’s mental health, where she has supported children and youth ages 0–18, as well as parents, caregivers, and entire family systems navigating emotional, behavioural, relational, and trauma-related concerns. In addition to her work with children and families, Nichole also has extensive experience supporting adults experiencing trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, emotional regulation difficulties, and general mental health and life stressors.
As the Founder and Clinical Director of Changing Tides Counselling, Nichole also brings extensive experience in clinical leadership, ethical practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, case consultation, and practice operations. She has supervised clinicians and students within both formal and informal settings and is passionate about supporting therapist growth, confidence, clinical skill development, and reflective practice.
Nichole’s supervision style is collaborative, supportive, relational, and grounded in trauma-informed and attachment-based approaches. She aims to create a space where clinicians can deepen their clinical understanding, strengthen case conceptualization skills, explore therapeutic use of self, and navigate the complexities of clinical work in a safe and supportive environment.
Nichole is also passionate about supporting newer clinicians as they navigate the transition into private practice and develop confidence in both their clinical work and professional identity. Her supervision approach recognizes the realities of balancing client care, documentation, boundaries, imposter syndrome, and the operational demands that can come with working in private practice settings. Drawing from her experience as a group practice owner and clinical director, she can also support clinicians in developing sustainable systems, workflows, and ethical practices that support both therapist well-being and quality client care.
