About Colleen
Hello! My name is Colleen Boehme (she/her), I am a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW). I completed my Master of Social Work at the University of Toronto, a degree in Global Development Studies at Queen’s University, and a diploma in Assaulted Women and Children’s Counselling and Advocacy at George Brown College. My educational experience reflects my passion for social justice and gender based violence work.
I have over 15 years of experience in the mental health field, having worked in the realm of housing, addictions and mental health, gender based violence, and post-secondary education. Many years of my professional experience have been rooted in the Indigenous community in Toronto. I have had the privilege of working with adults, children, and youth in different community therapeutic settings providing individual, family, and group therapy.
I approach our work together using a client centered, trauma-informed framework which means your safety, choice, and pace are respected throughout our work together. Sessions draw from evidence based practices to gently support healing through the mind/body connection and to help your nervous system feel more present and grounded. Your experiences, relationships, and the wider context of your life are honoured as part of the therapy process, and care is shaped around your needs and what feels most supportive. We’ll build practical coping skills, support reconnecting to yourself, and create space for meaningful, lasting change in a warm, non-judgmental environment.
I have a deep appreciation for nature, which grounds me and guides my self care practices. My connection to the natural world informs my therapeutic approach, helping me remain present and attuned. Outside of the therapy space, I enjoy time with my daughter and partner, friends, and crafting crochet blankets and ceramics.
