About Kate
Hi, my name is Kate Cooper (she/her). I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, completing my practicum as part of a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. I hold a Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and a post-graduate certification in Career Development from Conestoga College. I have worked in a variety of fields, including hospitality, banking, non-profit and education. For the last 10 years, I have worked as a Career Advisor in post-secondary education, supporting individuals through important life transitions.
My own experiences with life’s challenges deepened my passion for helping others cope, heal, and grow. I believe transitions can spark reflection and change, and I aim to support clients as they navigate these moments with greater clarity and resilience.
I am recognized as a compassionate listener who creates a non-judgmental, safe space where clients can process and be truly heard. My therapeutic approach is collaborative and adaptable. I draw on modalities such as Emotion-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused approaches, and mindfulness practices. I am always guided by the individual needs and goals of the client.
Outside of my work, I enjoy time with my husband and three daughters, being in nature, writing, reading and creating.
Specialties: Life transitions, grief and loss, burnout, anxiety and stress management, parenting, mindfulness, general wellness and wellbeing.
